In a welcoming statement from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, Deputy Minister Yuri Gorbich noted, "The international forum has already become a tradition and is now in its third year. The topic is very important because minimally invasive surgical interventions have recently become the gold standard for the treatment of many surgical pathologies. The advantages of this method are numerous - minimally invasive technologies reduce postoperative trauma, decrease the number of complications, and improve the quality of care. In Belarus, compared to the previous year, we are performing twice as many minimally invasive surgeries at the regional level.

Deputy Chief Physician for Surgery Yuri Slobodin explained that about three years ago, at the initiative of the Chief Physician Irina Abelskaya, a program called "Modern Medicine in the Regions" was developed and launched at the Medical Center of the Administration of the President. During an assessment of the healthcare system, an interdepartmental working group noted that the regions had reasonably good material and technical equipment but lacked the skills to perform minimally invasive surgeries. This educational project corrects that issue and makes healthcare more accessible. Initially, ten regional hospitals joined the program. Local specialists came to the Medical Center, where masterclasses were held in the clinics where they work. Surgeons from Soligorsk, Ostrovets, Luninets, and Lida worked especially actively. They implemented modern technologies for hernia surgery, gallstone disease, intestinal, adhesional, and tumor obstructions, which accelerated patient recovery and rehabilitation. The geography of participants in the "Modern Medicine in the Regions" project is expanding and, as of October 2023, includes 27 regional and district healthcare institutions.йонных
