This is a traditional annual meeting of leading specialists in hernia surgery with international participation.

But this year, the discussions went far beyond herniology: the participants talked not only about modern possibilities of surgical treatment but also addressed important issues of rehabilitation and improving patients' quality of life.

A surgeon, Head of the Operating Department of the Republican Clinical Medical Center (RCMC), Mikhail Sergeevich Kukharchik, took part in this large-scale event. His report on "When Everything Went Off Plan: Complications in Video-Assisted Herniology" aroused keen interest and discussion among the audience.

The new knowledge gained at the congress is now being actively implemented into the work of the surgical department of the RCMC.
