PCR diagnostics

PCR diagnostics is a highly accurate molecular genetic diagnostic technique which makes it possible to reveal various infectious and hereditary disorders.

INDICATIONS FOR PCR DIAGNOSTICS

The PCR technique has become a “golden standard” in the diagnosis of many disorders. PCR diagnostics means:

  • direct detection of the disease agent in the studied sample;
  • high specificity enabling the location of the unique DNA or RNA region;
  • high sensitivity of the technique enabling the detection of even singular originator cells (viruses and bacteria);
  • the procedure makes it possible to detect multiple disease agents using the same sample;
  • it is possible to detect pathogens even before any symptoms of the disease develop (so-called symptomless diagnostics) and after the disease has been cured (retrospective diagnostics).

PREPARATION FOR PCR DIAGNOSTICS

Guidelines of patient preparation for sample collection for real-time PCR test

HOW DO I GET MY TEST TAKEN?

  1. You need to complete and sign a paid service contract at the Reception or, if you have a physician's referral, present it to the receptionist.
  2. Pay the bill at the RCMC pay office, or through the ERIP electronic payment system.
  3. Have your sample taken.

Test material is accepted according to schedule (Friday through Monday), from 8:00 till 10:00. Test results are made available to the physician and the patient at 15:00 on the same day.
