Air (pneumo-) massage may help to cure impaired efflux of lymph and venous blood caused by abnormalities of venous and lymph vessels and their valvular apparatus.
Pneumocompression therapy serves to improve tissue nutrition and blood supply, improve skin elasticity and resilience, increase the number of functionally active capillary vessels and improve their blood flow rate, and accelerate the process of removal of wastes and toxins from the body. This removes tissue congestion.
The technique essentially involves a controlled alternating supply and withdrawal of compressed air into/from an airtight cuff divided into chambers. The action may be applied to lower limbs, the abdominal and lumbar areas, and to upper limbs.
Indications to pneumocompression therapy:
- lower limb varicose vein dilation not accompanied by trophic abnormalities;
- post-thrombophlebitis syndrome;
- lymphatic edema (lymphedema) of a congenital or acquired nature (following operations or radio/chemotherapy procedures);
- carpal tunnel syndrome;
- Reynaud's syndrome;
- neuropathy and neuralgia;
- diabetic angiopathy;
- polyarthritis and arthrosis;
- post-injury edemas and scars;
- restless legs syndrome;
- cellulite and stretch marks;
- relieving muscle tension following exercises.
