Сarbon dioxide baths


“Dry”, or carbon dioxide, baths act to regulate the functioning of the nervous system and improve the functionality of the cardio-respiratory system. The therapy results in mild reduction and stabilization of blood pressure and improvement of the external breathing function. An important mechanism of carbon dioxide bath's effect is the ability to improve the saturation of arterial capillary blood with oxygen. The change of functional status of the nervous system has a beneficial effect on the activity of many organs and systems of the body, in particular of the endocrine and the immune protection systems, as well on the regulation of exchange processes (reductive-oxidative, electrolyte, carbohydrate, fat metabolism, etc.).

Indications to the application of dry carbon dioxide baths are:

  • Disorders of the cardiovascular system: coronary heart disease, cardiac angina, cardiac insufficiency, valvular apparatus defects, recovery after a coronary bypass surgery or stenting operation, or after previous myocardial infarction, arterial hypertension, myocardiodystrophy, cardiophyshoneurosis, obliterating atherosclerosis of lower limb vessels, non-acute phlebitis and thrombophlebitis of the lower limbs.
  • Chronic non-specific lung disorders: chronic obstructive bronchitis, bronchial asthma, chronic pneumonia, chronic obstructive lung disease.
  • Endocrine system disorders and metabolic disorders: exogenous constitutive obesity, stage 1, 2 or 3 diabetes mellitus, hypothyrosis accompanied by myocardiodystrophy, disruption of menstrual period during the menopause.
  • Disorders of supporting and motor organs: osteoarthritis deformans, rheumatoid arthritis, recovery following operations on joints, spinal osteochondrosis.
  • Nervous system disorders: neuradynamia, asthenoneurotic syndrome, cerebrovascular insufficiency.
  • Recovery of fitness in athletes, preparation for competitions, endurance training.
  • Genito-urinary system disorders: chronic prostatitis.
  • Skin diseases: psoriasis, neurodermatitis, subacute dermatitis, seborrhetic eczema.
