TEKAR therapy (TECAR — Transfer of Electricity Capacitive and Resistive) is a method of high-frequency contact electromagnetic thermotherapy based on the application of alternating electric current in the radiofrequency range (from 300 kHz to 1.2 MHz).
From a physiological perspective, the method belongs to endogenous thermotherapy: unlike infrared radiation or heating pads, the heat is not introduced from the outside, but is generated directly inside biological tissues through electromagnetic displacement of ions and water dipoles.
During a TEKAR therapy session, the patient experiences no pain, but rather a pleasant, deep and relaxing endogenous warmth generated within the tissues, reminiscent of a hot stone massage. Depending on the mode, this warmth can be gentle and superficial (in muscles) or concentrated and deep (in joints and ligaments). Within 5–10 minutes of the session, due to the blocking of pain receptors, marked pain relief occurs, and after the procedure the body retains a feeling of lightness and warmth, with significantly increased mobility.
