Abdominal cavity organ ultrasonography is a highly informative ultrasonic diagnostic technique which makes it possible to perform examination of internal organs, reveal disorders and abnormalities of the ACO, and carry out an overall body status assessment.
INDICATIONS TO ABDOMINAL CAVITY ORGAN ULTRASONOGRAPHY
- a painful condition;
- abnormal bowel pattern;
- malignant changes revealed by urine tests;
- hypertension;
- jaundice;
- swollen liver or spleen;
- occurrence of pathologic space-occupying lesions;
- traumatic injuries;
- acute and chronic inflammatory processes.
THE PROCEDURE OF ABDOMINAL CAVITY ORGAN ULTRASONOGRAPHY
During the examination, the form, contours, structures, acoustic solidity and anatomical organization of the following organs is evaluated:
liver (assessment of both liver dimensions and dimensions of its lobes; assessment of the vascular pattern of the liver itself and of specific vessels, assessment of the duct system);
gall bladder (assessment of the structure of gall bladder and of its duct system; dimension estimation; assessment of the duct system as a whole and of specific ducts). When analyzing the contractile function of gall bladder, the volume of the organ is determined before and after the administration of a choleretic breakfast);
Pancreatic gland (organ structure and duct system evaluation);
Spleen (organ structure assessment and splenic vein size estimation).
Kidney ultrasonography includes: evaluation of the location, form, contours and anatomical organization; assessment of the dimensions of a kidney as a whole, its parenchyma, renal sinus and renal sinus elements, assessment of the structure and acoustic solidity of renal sinus and its elements: vascular elements and the calices-pelvis system.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
