Preparation for sampling and testing directly depends on what tests/samples and for what purpose need to be taken. Laboratory analysis suggests the avenue of further research. Regular preventive examinations guarantee timely commencement of treatment; and appropriate preparation to sampling and testing in our Laboratory guarantees an accurate diagnosis.
ATTENTION! Failure to comply with the rules may necessitate a repeated sampling/testing or may result in result misinterpretation.
General guidelines to the preparation of the patient to sampling and testing as part of a planned examination:
- in the morning time, on an empty stomach (i.e. 8 to 12 hours after the latest eating), before any diagnostic or therapeutic procedures;
- it is best to take blood samples in the morning, before 10:00, since all the standards refer to the sampling period of 7:00 to 10:00;
- smoking is strictly forbidden on the day of sampling/testing;
- refrain from alcohol, fatty, fried, spicy or exotic food for one to two days prior the examination.
Please be advised that:
- morning drug administration must occur only after sampling;
- physical and muscular exercise, physical training and exercises shall be excluded for at least three days before sampling;
- mental load and stress tend to alter biochemical indicators considerably, thus, a relaxed atmosphere should be created during sampling;
- water, beverages, juices, tea, coffee and chewing gum, candies, refreshing pastille are also food!
Quality of study and accuracy of results are dramatically impaired if hemolysis and hyperlipemia-affected samples are used.
Comprehensive studies (multiple tests performed on a single sample) are more informative.
